Text to IFC with AI Free BIM object generator

Describe a piece of furniture, equipment or a building element, and the AI builds it at real size. Export it as IFC4, the open BIM format, and link or import it into Revit, Archicad, Vectorworks or any IFC viewer.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Need the whole building as a BIM model? The AI can also build IFC buildings with storeys, walls, doors, windows, rooms and lights.

Watch how it works

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • IFC4 is the open standard that every major BIM program reads.
  • Quick placeholder objects let you fill a model before the manufacturer's content arrives.
  • Objects come in at true size, so clearances and layouts check out.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Exporting IFC

  1. Open the Export menu and choose IFC4.
  2. In Revit, use Insert > Link IFC or open the IFC file.
  3. In Archicad, use File > Open or merge the IFC into your project.

The IFC holds a faceted shell geometry at real size. It does not carry manufacturer data, parametric families or rich property sets.

Best export formats: IFC, DWG

Good to know

Objects are geometry placeholders, so parameters do not flex in your BIM software. For specified products, swap in the manufacturer's content later.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶Can AI create BIM objects?
It can create the geometry and export it as IFC4 for BIM software. The objects are not parametric families.
▶Which IFC version is exported?
IFC4.
▶Can I use it in Revit?
Yes. Link it with Insert > Link IFC, or open the IFC directly.
▶Can the IFC be edited in Archicad?
It imports as an object or morph you can move and copy. Reshape it in the AI panel and export again for larger changes.
