AI DXF Floor Plan Free, in your browser

Describe a floor plan and the AI drafts it as a CAD drawing, then export it as DXF from the viewer's Export menu. The DXF keeps the layers and blocks and carries true dimension entities, so it reads cleanly in CAD programs and in laser and CNC software that imports DXF.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Need flat parts for a laser, Cricut or CNC router? The same AI also makes cut files as SVG and DXF, checked for the kerf.

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • Dimensions in the DXF are real dimension entities, which you can restyle or edit in CAD.
  • Each part of the plan sits on its own layer, so furniture, text and hatching can be hidden to leave only the walls.
  • Everything is in millimetres, which suits laser and CNC software that reads 1 unit as 1 mm.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Exporting DXF

  1. Wait for the plan to open in the viewer after the AI finishes.
  2. Open the Export menu and choose DXF.
  3. Import the file at millimetre units in your CAD, laser or CNC software.
  4. Hide layers you do not need, such as A-FURN or A-ANNO-DIMS, before cutting or engraving.

Wall hatching is on A-WALL-PATT and the title block on A-ANNO-TTLB. Turn those layers off for a laser job so only the outlines remain.

Best export formats: DXF, DWG, SVG

Good to know

Walls are straight segments, and curved walls are not supported. The DXF is a 2D plan without sections, elevations or 3D walls.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶What is the difference between the DWG and the DXF?
Both hold the same plan, layers and blocks. The DXF from the Export menu carries true dimension entities, while the DWG draws dimensions as grouped lines and text.
▶Can I use the DXF on a laser cutter?
Yes. Import it at millimetre units, hide the layers you do not want, and scale it to your model scale in the laser software.
▶Which units does the DXF use?
Millimetres. A 9 m wall is 9000 units long.
▶Which programs open it?
AutoCAD, BricsCAD, DraftSight, LibreCAD and most other CAD programs, plus laser and CNC software that imports DXF.
