Text to DAE with AI COLLADA files, free

Describe the object and the AI builds it at real size in the viewer. Export DAE (COLLADA), an XML format that SketchUp, Blender, Cinema 4D and many other programs import with colours intact.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Watch how it works

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • DAE carries colours and materials into Blender, Cinema 4D and most other 3D programs.
  • Being XML, a DAE file is easy to inspect and repair.
  • The model keeps its true size, so furniture fits the rooms you have drawn.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Exporting DAE

  1. Open the Export menu and choose DAE (COLLADA).
  2. In SketchUp, use File > Import and pick COLLADA (.dae).
  3. In other programs, use their Import command for COLLADA.

DAE keeps colours and materials, and the model is written at real size. Objects arrive as static meshes with no rig.

Best export formats: DAE (COLLADA), FBX

Good to know

COLLADA support varies between programs, so very large scenes import slowly. Organic shapes are simplified.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶What is a DAE file?
DAE is COLLADA, an XML 3D exchange format read by SketchUp, Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya and others.
▶Does the DAE keep colours?
Yes. Colours and materials come through.
▶Will SketchUp import the DAE at the right size?
The model is built at real size, so it should arrive at the correct scale. For SketchUp, the native .skp export is simpler: it opens with File > Open and keeps groups, components and tags.
▶Can I use DAE in a game engine?
Some engines read DAE, but FBX or GLB is the better choice for Unity and Unreal.
