Watch how it works
How it works
- 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
- 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
- 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.
Why make it with AI here
- Every part arrives as a named group or component, and repeated parts such as chair legs, shelves or identical chairs are one component placed many times.
- A few meaningful tags (layers in older SketchUp) and real material names such as Oak or Brushed steel are set for you.
- Ask for an exact width or height and the model opens at that size, which covers pieces you cannot find on 3D Warehouse, like a bench built to fit a bay window.
Prompts to try
Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.
Getting the model into SketchUp
- Set Made for to For SketchUp (.skp) in the AI panel, or add "for SketchUp" to your request.
- When the model is ready, click Download .skp under that version, or choose SketchUp 2017+ (.skp) in the viewer's Export menu.
- Open the file in SketchUp 2017 or later, or in SketchUp Viewer, with File > Open.
- To add it to a model you already have open, use File > Import, which places the .skp as a component.
Flat sides arrive as single faces and curved surfaces get soft, smooth edges, so the model edits like one drawn in SketchUp. Round parts use 24 to 48 segments to keep the face count light, and the file stores the model units and an iso camera view.
Best export formats: SketchUp (.skp), DAE (COLLADA), DWG
Good to know
The file is written in the SketchUp 2017 format, which has no tag folders, so a tag named "Furniture/Chairs" keeps that full name. Desktop SketchUp and SketchUp Viewer open the .skp directly; the web version of SketchUp handles files from your computer in its own way, depending on your plan.
Cost and privacy
You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.
