AI Model Generator for Maya Rigged characters and props, free

Describe a prop, set piece or person and the AI builds it at real size. Pick For Maya and download an .fbx written in Maya's defaults, Y up in centimetres. People come in as joints with a skin cluster on each mesh, ready for HumanIK, layout or animation.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Watch how it works

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • Characters arrive skinned to a humanoid joint chain that HumanIK can characterise.
  • Props come in as named transforms, each pivoting at the centre of its base, so layout and animation start straight away.
  • Names are kept to letters, digits and underscores, so Maya keeps them as written.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Getting the model into Maya

  1. Pick For Maya in the AI panel's Made for menu, or say "for Maya" in your request.
  2. Choose Idle, Walk or Wave next to the download for a character, then click Download .fbx.
  3. In Maya, use File > Import and select the .fbx.
  4. For a character, open HumanIK and create a character definition from the skeleton if you want to retarget.

The file matches Maya's default working units, so there is nothing to convert. Materials import with their names and colours, and people keep their textures.

Best export formats: FBX, OBJ, GLB

Good to know

Object UVs are a simple box projection. Characters beyond the MakeHuman-based people, like creatures, are not built well, and the rig has no face controls.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶Does the FBX work in Maya?
Yes. Import it with File > Import. Maya reads the hierarchy, joints, skin clusters, materials and textures.
▶Are the generated people rigged?
Yes. They come with joints and skin weights, and an Idle, Walk or Wave clip if you pick one.
▶Can I retarget my own animation?
Yes. Characterise the skeleton with HumanIK, then retarget any HumanIK animation onto it.
▶Can I use the models as layout stand-ins?
Yes. Props arrive at real size, so they work for blocking and camera layout before final assets are ready.
