AI Model Generator for Fusion 360 Free, in your browser

Describe a part with millimetre dimensions and the AI builds it at real size. Export STEP or STL and open it in Fusion 360 as a reference body to build on, print or convert.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Watch how it works

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • Makers get a dimensioned starting shape to design mating parts around.
  • Simple parts can be converted from mesh to BRep in Fusion and then edited with normal tools.
  • The OpenSCAD source stays editable, so you can regenerate the part with new sizes.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Getting the model into Fusion 360

  1. Choose STEP in the Export menu (or STL for printing).
  2. In Fusion 360, use File > Open > Open from my computer, or upload to your project.
  3. For an STL, use Insert > Insert Mesh.
  4. To edit a simple part, right-click the mesh body and use Mesh to BRep (or Convert Mesh).

The STEP arrives as a faceted body, with flat triangles where curves were. Converting to BRep works best on parts with few curves; heavily curved parts produce many faces.

Best export formats: STEP, STL, OBJ

Good to know

There is no feature timeline, so Fusion cannot roll back or edit sketches from the import. Threads are modelled as plain holes unless you ask for them.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶Can I edit the STEP in Fusion 360?
It opens as a mesh-based body. Simple parts can be converted to BRep and edited; complex ones are best used as reference.
▶How do I convert the mesh to a solid in Fusion?
In the Mesh workspace, use Convert Mesh (Mesh to BRep). Keep the face count low by asking the AI for fewer segments.
▶Should I use STEP or STL?
STEP for CAD work and reference geometry, STL for sending straight to a slicer.
▶Does it model threads?
It can model simple thread shapes if you ask, but for real fits add threads in Fusion with the Thread tool after conversion.
