Text to DXF with AI Free, in your browser

Describe the object and the AI builds it at real size in the viewer. Export a DXF that stores the model as 3D faces, an open text format nearly every CAD, CAM and design tool can read.

Free. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Need a floor plan? The same AI can also draw furnished floor plans as DWG, with walls, doors, room areas and dimensions.

Need flat parts for a laser, Cricut or CNC router? The same AI also makes cut files as SVG and DXF, checked for the kerf.

Watch how it works

How it works

  1. 1. Describe it or add a photoType what you want in plain words, with sizes if you know them, or add a photo as a reference. Describe an object or a person.
  2. 2. The AI builds and checks itThe AI writes an OpenSCAD program for an object, or sets up the character generator for a person. It looks at six rendered views of the result and fixes what is wrong, up to five builds per message.
  3. 3. Refine and exportThe model opens in the viewer at real size. Ask for changes in the chat, move the sliders, then download it or pick a format from the Export menu.

Why make it with AI here

  • DXF is readable by free and paid software alike, including FreeCAD, LibreCAD, QCAD and Inkscape plug-ins.
  • Being plain text, a DXF is easy to process with scripts or import into custom tools.
  • The same model can also be saved as DWG for AutoCAD users.

Prompts to try

Click one to open it in the AI panel, then change the sizes to suit.

Exporting DXF

  1. Open the Export menu and choose DXF.
  2. Open or import the file in your CAD or design software.
  3. Switch to a 3D or isometric view to see the model.

The DXF contains 3D faces, which suit display and reference. 2D laser or CNC profiles are not produced, so cutting tools expecting flat outlines will not find any.

Best export formats: DXF, DWG

Good to know

Flat cutting profiles for laser or plasma tables are not created. Faces cannot be edited as solids.

Cost and privacy

You use your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. It is stored only in your browser and sent only to that provider, which bills you directly: a model typically costs $0.05 to $0.30 at Standard quality and up to about $1 at Detailed, and Innerscene charges nothing. Your key and prompts are not sent to Innerscene; we record anonymous usage statistics such as the steps used, the model chosen, token counts, a cost estimate and whether a model was made.

Questions

▶Can I use the DXF for laser cutting?
The DXF holds a 3D model, so it is not a flat cut path. Use it as a 3D reference.
▶What is in the DXF file?
The model's surfaces as 3D face entities, at real size.
▶Which programs open it?
AutoCAD, BricsCAD, FreeCAD, DraftSight, Rhino, SketchUp Pro and most CAD software read DXF.
▶What is the difference between the DXF and DWG export?
They hold the same 3D faces. DXF is an open text file and DWG is AutoCAD's binary format.
