Summary

This study examined how sublethal micropulse diode laser energy affects retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, finding that it induces a protective heat shock protein response without causing cellular damage. For lighting and ocular safety contexts, this research helps clarify the boundary between nondamaging and damaging light/laser energy levels at the cellular level in the retina.
