Abstract

Summary

This review examines the role of somatostatin-based inhibitory signaling in retinal and hippocampal neural networks, identifying conserved molecular and cellular mechanisms. While primarily basic neuroscience, understanding retinal inhibitory circuitry has indirect implications for how light signals are processed and modulated before reaching downstream circadian pathways.
