Abstract

Summary

This invited commentary addresses whether the law of reciprocity (intensity × duration = constant effect) holds for circadian-effective lighting, with implications for how lighting designers specify exposure duration and intensity to achieve circadian outcomes. Understanding the limits of reciprocity is critical for developing accurate lighting standards and melanopic EDI recommendations.
