Abstract

Summary

This study uses Human Organotypic Retinal Cultures (HORCs) as an experimental model to investigate retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration relevant to glaucoma, exploring epigenetic regulation and mesenchymal factors as potential modulators of RGC fate. Findings from this model could inform understanding of how light-sensitive RGCs, including melanopsin-containing ipRGCs critical for circadian photoentrainment, are lost in glaucoma.
