Abstract

Summary

This study proposes a six-week morning blue light therapy (MBLT) protocol for patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), targeting circadian entrainment, sleep quality, and daytime alertness as primary mechanisms of recovery. Improvements in sleep are hypothesized to cascade into better emotional regulation, neurocognitive performance, and reduced psychiatric symptoms, with neuroimaging used to track functional brain changes.

Sleep & Circadian Health: Study targets circadian rhythm disruption and delayed sleep phase syndrome following mTBI using blue-wavelength bright light therapy.
Mood & Mental Wellness: Protocol includes measures of emotional regulation, mood, and psychiatric symptom expression as secondary outcomes of light therapy.
Workplace Performance: Neuropsychological performance, working memory, and executive control are assessed as outcomes, with implications for functional recovery.
