Abstract

Summary

This methodological paper explores how luminous color in architectural contexts can be studied in ways that are ecologically valid and relevant to designers, particularly given the rise of LEDs which can produce perceptually identical colors with different spectral compositions. It highlights that current health and perception science findings on spectra cannot easily be translated into actionable architectural design guidance, and proposes hybrid qualitative-quantitative research methods at architectural scale.
