Abstract

Summary

This study characterizes light-sensitive dermal chromatophores in teleost fish, exploring extraretinal photoreception mechanisms that differ fundamentally from mammalian visual systems. While not directly applicable to human lighting design, findings contribute to foundational understanding of photoreceptor diversity and phototransduction pathways.
