How to convert PAGES to PNG

  1. 1

    Open your .pages file

Drag it onto the viewer above, or click "Open a PAGES File". Files up to 200 MB open directly; the parse runs in a worker so the page stays responsive.

  2. 2

    Click Download PNG

Once the file is open, the Download PNG button sits at the bottom right of the viewer. The Export menu in the toolbar has every other format.

  3. 3

    Download

The .png is written in the browser and saved straight to your downloads folder. No queue, no email, no watermark.

What survives the conversion

A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from PAGES into PNG, and what does not.

PagesReducedThe page you are viewing is captured as an image at the resolution you pick, up to 4x what is on screen. Text becomes pixels: it stops being selectable, searchable or reflowable, and links stop being clickable.
Colors and materialsKeptPNG carries full color, which is at least what PAGES stores, so the colors come across.

What the PNG writer emits: The current view, captured at whatever resolution you set in the export dialog. For a picture the dialog opens at the source image’s own pixel size, so a 1x export is a faithful re-save; for a model or a drawing it opens at twice the on-screen size, up to 8192 pixels wide.

The source: Apple Pages Document (.pages)

An Apple Pages document laid out at its page size and margins: text in any language with its paragraph and character styles (font, size, bold, italic, underline, colour, alignment, indents and spacing), numbered lists, inline and floating pictures, tables with their text and numbers, text boxes and page breaks. Headers, footers, footnotes and charts are not shown.

The target: PNG Image (.png)

Opens in: Anything.

Your file never leaves your computer

Both the PAGES parser and the PNG writer are JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your own browser tab. There is no upload step, no server-side conversion queue, and no copy of your file anywhere but your machine. That matters for drawings under NDA, for client work, and for anything you would not email to a stranger.
