How to convert KSPLAT to LAS

  1. 1

    Open your .ksplat file

Drag it onto the viewer above, or click "Open a KSPLAT File". Files up to 200 MB open directly; the parse runs in a worker so the page stays responsive.

  2. 2

Pick LAS Point Cloud in the Export menu

Click Export in the toolbar, then LAS (.las).

  3. 3

    Download

The .las is written in the browser and saved straight to your downloads folder. No queue, no email, no watermark.

What survives the conversion

A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from KSPLAT into LAS, and what does not.

GeometryKeptBoth formats store points, so the shape transfers directly.
Colors and materialsKeptLAS carries per-vertex color, which is at least what KSPLAT stores, so the colors come across.
Units and scaleKeptLAS stores an explicit unit. KSPLAT does not, so the size is taken from how the viewer read the file. Check the scale once on import.

What the LAS writer emits: LAS 1.4, point data record format 2 (XYZ plus RGB), centered on the cloud’s own bounds with a millimeter scale factor. The file’s own real-world easting and northing are not restored to the header offset.

The source: GaussianSplats3D splat (.ksplat) (.ksplat)

The splats of a GaussianSplats3D .ksplat file, at any compression level: each one’s centre in its colour, as a point cloud of the splat centres. Splats are not surfaces, so the conversions are point clouds and pictures.

Your file never leaves your computer

Both the KSPLAT parser and the LAS writer are JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your own browser tab. There is no upload step, no server-side conversion queue, and no copy of your file anywhere but your machine. That matters for drawings under NDA, for client work, and for anything you would not email to a stranger.
