How to convert G-code to PDF
- 1
Open your .gcode file
Drag it onto the viewer above, or click "Open a G-code File". Files up to 200 MB open directly; the parse runs in a worker so the page stays responsive.
- 2
Pick PDF in the Export menu
Click Export in the toolbar, then PDF (.pdf).
- 3
Download
The .pdf is written in the browser and saved straight to your downloads folder. No queue, no email, no watermark.
What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from G-code into PDF, and what does not.
| Geometry | Reduced | The vector PDF keeps the line work as editable paths with hidden lines removed. The snapshot PDF is a picture of the view. Neither is 3-D geometry once exported. |
|---|---|---|
| Colors and materials | Kept | PDF carries full color, which is at least what G-code stores, so the colors come across. |
| Layers and structure | Dropped | The export is flat: one image, one set of pixels. Layers you switched off in the Layers panel are simply not drawn, so the output matches what you see. |
What the PDF writer emits: Two buttons: a snapshot PDF of the current view with caption headers, and a true vector PDF. The vector one re-projects a 3-D model as editable line work with hidden lines removed, and writes a 2-D drawing straight through as native PDF vector objects with its text still selectable.
The source: G-code toolpath (.gcode, .gco, .gc, .nc, .ngc, .tap, .cnc)
Every move of a 3D printer, CNC or laser program as a line in millimetres, arcs and drilling cycles included: extrusion or cutting moves grouped by the slicer’s feature types or by tool, travel and rapid moves on their own layer, coloured by height layer by layer.
The target: PDF (.pdf)
The format anyone can open. For submittals, RFIs, markups and email.
Opens in: Any PDF reader, Bluebeam, Acrobat, Illustrator (vector output).
Your file never leaves your computer
Both the G-code parser and the PDF writer are JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your own browser tab. There is no upload step, no server-side conversion queue, and no copy of your file anywhere but your machine. That matters for drawings under NDA, for client work, and for anything you would not email to a stranger.
