How to convert 3D XML to PDF

What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from 3D XML into PDF, and what does not.

What the PDF writer emits: Two buttons: a snapshot PDF of the current view with caption headers, and a true vector PDF. The vector one re-projects a 3-D model as editable line work with hidden lines removed, and writes a 2-D drawing straight through as native PDF vector objects with its text still selectable.

The product structure of a 3D XML package: assemblies, sub-assemblies and every placed part, drawn from the tessellated faces and edges of its XML shape files, in each face’s colour or the colour of the material applied to the part, at the positions the author saved, in millimetres, including the binary CGR tessellation of 2005-2006 CATIA V5 packages. Shapes stored in Dassault’s newer binary representation are counted and left out.
