What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from 3D XML into DWG, and what does not.

What the DWG writer emits: The same R12 geometry as the DXF export, converted to binary DWG by a native converter on our server. Layers, colors and units carry across. This one step is the only part of a conversion that leaves your machine, and it sends geometry only.
The source: Dassault 3D XML (.3dxml)
The product structure of a 3D XML package: assemblies, sub-assemblies and every placed part, drawn from the tessellated faces and edges of its XML shape files, in each face’s colour or the colour of the material applied to the part, at the positions the author saved, in millimetres, including the binary CGR tessellation of 2005-2006 CATIA V5 packages. Shapes stored in Dassault’s newer binary representation are counted and left out.

What happens to your file
Your 3D XML file is parsed in your own browser tab and never uploaded. Writing a binary DWG is the one step that cannot be done in a browser, so the geometry we generated locally is posted to our own converter as a DXF, turned into a DWG, and sent straight back.
What travels is the exported geometry, not your original file: no source document, no file name, no metadata. Nothing is retained after the response. 3D XML → DXF
