What Is a PDF File?
A .pdf file (Portable Document Format, ISO 32000) describes each page as text drawn in embedded fonts, vector lines and pictures, all at fixed positions. That is why a PDF looks the same on a phone, a laptop and a printer, and why contracts, forms, reports, datasheets, plan sets and shop drawings all travel as PDF. Beyond the pages, a PDF can carry bookmarks, links, fillable form fields (often with scripts that check entries and add up totals), signature fields and a password.
This reader opens the document in your browser and draws the pages as you scroll, so a report of several hundred pages is ready in about a second. Page thumbnails and the document’s bookmarks sit in a sidebar, zoom goes from fit page and fit width to actual size and beyond, and the text can be selected, copied and searched. Drawings and CAD plot sheets are redrawn at the zoom you choose, so the finest lines of a floor plan or a wiring diagram stay sharp.
It also works on the document. Fill in the form fields, sign with a drawn, typed or uploaded signature, add initials and the date, change a line of text or add a text box, then download the finished PDF or print it. Every step can be undone, and a share link opens the document for someone else with your entries in place.
Who Uses PDF Files?
Everyone who sends or receives documents: contracts and agreements waiting for a signature, application and tax forms, invoices and purchase orders, manuals and data sheets, specifications, permit sets and submittals on a construction project, school and government paperwork. This reader is for the moment such a file arrives on a computer or phone with no PDF editor installed, or when a form simply needs filling in and signing before it goes back. Architects, engineers and contractors also use it to read plan sets and shop drawings at high zoom.
Common Use Cases

Features
Fast With Long Documents
Pages are drawn as you scroll, so a PDF of several hundred pages opens in about a second and jumping to any page is instant.
Thumbnails and Bookmarks
A sidebar shows every page as a thumbnail and the document’s own bookmarks. Links inside the PDF take you to the page they point to.
Zoom and Rotate
Fit page, fit width, actual size and preset zoom levels, pinch or Ctrl+wheel to zoom, and rotate the view a quarter turn at a time.
Find, Select and Copy
Search the whole document with match counts, and select and copy text straight from the page.
Made for Drawings
Plot sheets from AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD programs are redrawn at the zoom you choose, so the finest lines stay sharp.
Fill In Forms
Text fields, check boxes, radio buttons and lists work as live controls. Forms that calculate totals and format amounts and dates do so as you type, and XFA forms fill too.
Sign Documents
Draw, type or upload your signature, then add it with your initials and the date. Signatures can be remembered in this browser for the next document.
Edit and Add Text
Change a line of text or add a text box anywhere on a page. Your words are drawn over the original in a matching font.
Undo, Redo and Download
Every entry, signature and text change can be undone. Download PDF saves a copy that opens with your changes in any PDF reader.
Print With Your Changes
Print the document with your form entries, signatures and edits on the pages.
Share a Link
Send a link that opens the document at the same page and zoom, with your entries and signatures included when you choose.
Password-Protected PDFs
Enter the password to open a protected PDF for reading, searching and printing. The password stays in that browser tab.
On to DWG, DXF or HTML
Turn a drawing PDF into CAD linework with PDF to DWG and PDF to DXF, or into a web page with PDF to HTML.
Embed on Your Site
Put the viewer on your own page with one iframe.
Nothing Is Uploaded
The PDF opens on your device. It leaves only if you choose to share a link.
Compatibility & Format Notes
Opens PDF files of every version, including large documents of hundreds of pages and password-protected files (you are asked for the password). Vector plot sheets exported from AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD programs open as sharp linework, and documents scanned to PDF open as page images. Fillable AcroForm fields are drawn as live controls: text fields, check boxes, radio buttons, lists and drop-downs. Form scripts run in a sandbox, so fields that calculate totals, format amounts and dates or check what you type work as they do in Acrobat. XFA forms display and fill too.
Signatures you place are electronic signatures: a picture of your signature on the page. A PDF that already carries a certificate-based digital signature opens normally, and the reader tells you that saving changes will make that signature invalid. Edited text is drawn over the original line in a matching standard font, and the original stays in the file underneath. Text inside pictures (scans) and rotated text cannot be edited. New text in Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts saves into the PDF; Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic characters cannot yet be saved into an edited PDF.
Files protected with a password or with permission restrictions open for reading, searching and printing; filling in, signing and editing are switched off for them, because an edited copy of an encrypted file cannot be saved. To turn a drawing into CAD linework use PDF to DWG or PDF to DXF, and to publish a document as a web page use PDF to HTML.
Illustrator files saved with PDF compatibility are PDFs inside, and open in the Illustrator viewer.

Your Files Stay on Your Computer
Your PDF files are parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared unless you explicitly click the Share button. Shared files are hosted for 90 days then deleted.
Frequently Asked Questions
▶Is this PDF viewer free?
Yes, completely free: no signup, no watermarks and no file size limit in the viewer (the optional share link accepts uploads up to 100 MB). No PDF reader, plugin or account is needed. Built by Innerscene.
▶Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened, filled in, signed and saved inside your browser. The file leaves your device only when you make a link with the Share button.
▶Can I sign a PDF here?
Yes. Click Sign, then draw your signature with a mouse, pen or finger, type your name in a handwriting font, or upload a photo or scan of your signature (the white paper around it becomes transparent). Place it on the page, move and resize it, and add initials and the date the same way. Signatures can be remembered in this browser, so the next document takes one click.
▶Is it a digital signature?
It is an electronic signature: a picture of your signature placed on the page, which is what most forms and agreements ask for. Certificate-based digital signatures, made with a digital ID that proves who signed and seals the file, are a separate technology that this reader does not create.
▶Can I fill in a PDF form and save it?
Yes. Type into text fields, tick check boxes and radio buttons, and pick from lists. Forms that add up totals or format amounts and dates do so as you type. Click Download PDF to save a copy with your entries; it opens with them in Acrobat and any other PDF reader. You can also choose to flatten the fields so the values become part of the page.
▶Can I edit the text in a PDF?
You can change a line of text and add new text boxes. Choose Edit text, click a line and type: your words are drawn over the original in a matching standard font, and the original stays in the file underneath. This suits corrections, dates, names and short notes. Text inside a scanned picture and rotated text cannot be edited.
▶Can I open a password-protected PDF?
Yes. The reader asks for the password and opens the document once you enter it. The password is used only in that browser tab and is never saved. A protected PDF can be read, searched and printed; filling in, signing and editing it are not available, because an edited copy of an encrypted file cannot be saved.
▶Does it keep drawings sharp when I zoom in?
Yes. Lines and text are redrawn at the zoom you choose, so plot sheets from AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD programs stay sharp down to the finest detail. A scanned PDF is a picture, so it is as sharp as the scan.
▶Why can't I select the text in my scanned PDF?
A scan stores each page as a picture, so the file holds no text. That text therefore cannot be selected, searched or edited. All three work for PDFs made from a word processor, a CAD plot or another program that writes real text.
▶Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The reader runs in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android. Pinch to zoom, tap the document to scroll through it, fill in fields with the on-screen keyboard and sign with your finger.
▶Can I share the filled or signed PDF?
Yes. Click Share to make a link. You choose whether it includes your signatures and your other changes, and the person who opens it sees the document at the same page and zoom, with your entries in place, and can download the finished PDF. Sharing uploads the file so the link works; nothing else is uploaded.
▶Can I print a PDF with my changes?
Yes. Print sends the document with your form entries, signatures and text changes on the pages.
▶Can I embed this PDF viewer on my own site?
Yes. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate a one-line <iframe> snippet for any HTML page, with or without the viewer’s toolbar.
▶Can I convert a PDF to another format?
Yes. Download PDF saves the document with your changes, and Export saves the pages as DWG, DXF or SVG drawings or the view as a PNG or JPG image. For drawings with a real scale and editable linework, use PDF to DWG or PDF to DXF; to publish a document as a web page, use PDF to HTML. A scanned PDF has no linework to convert.
