What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from Inventor into 3MF, and what does not.

What the 3MF writer emits: An OPC package in millimeters, Z-up, with each mesh as its own named object carrying a basematerials color, placed by a build item.

The display mesh Inventor saves inside a part or an assembly: every face of every body as Inventor tessellated it, in the body’s colour, and in an assembly every occurrence placed where the assembly has it, in centimetres, the right way up. Parts with no bodies and assemblies saved without their display cache open to a notice with the document’s own thumbnail.
