Free Online GTA V Model Viewer (No Signup)

GTA V on PC stores its models as RAGE resources: .ydr (one drawable, such as a prop), .ydd (a dictionary of drawables, such as clothing), .yft (a fragment, such as a vehicle) and .ytd (a texture dictionary). This viewer opens them in your browser, textured and upright, with no game and no modding tool installed. View and convert GTA V models in your browser.

Also opens DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, IFC, SKP, STL, OBJ, GLB, FBX, 3DM and other 3D/CAD files. Drop any file on the viewer.

Works directly in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Private by default. Files are parsed locally in your browser. Uploading is only required if you choose to share a link.

What Is a GTA V Model File?

GTA V streams every model and texture as a RAGE resource: a short RSC7 header and a compressed body holding the game’s own data structures. Mods are shared as these files, exported from the game’s .rpf archives with tools such as OpenIV and CodeWalker: a .ydr for a prop or weapon, a .ydd for clothing and accessories (a necklace or jacket for the freemode character), a .yft for a vehicle or breakable object, and a .ytd with the textures they use.

The viewer reads the resource in your browser. Each drawable is drawn at its most detailed level of detail, with the diffuse textures from the dictionary embedded in the model or from a .ytd uploaded with it in one .zip. Clothing takes its diffuse texture from its own .ytd (for example teef_diff_013_a_uni for teef_013_u), as the game does. A .ytd uploaded on its own opens as a sheet of its textures.

The model exports to GLB, OBJ, FBX and the other formats in the Export menu, for Blender or another 3D tool.

Who Uses GTA V Model Files?

GTA V modders and roleplay server developers checking a clothing item, vehicle or prop before they install it, buyers previewing a mod they were sent, and 3D artists who want a model out of the game’s format to work on it in another tool.

Common Use Cases

  • Preview a clothing item, vehicle or prop mod on a phone or in a browser
  • Check that a .ytd holds the right textures for its model
  • See which drawables a .ydd dictionary holds, each on its own layer
  • Convert a .ydr, .ydd or .yft to GLB, OBJ or FBX for Blender
  • Measure a model in metres before placing it in a map
  • Share a link to a mod with a buyer or a teammate

Features

Opens YDR, YDD and YFT

GTA V drawables, drawable dictionaries and fragments as the PC release stores them, also inside a .zip.

Textures From the .ytd

A .ytd uploaded in the same .zip supplies the diffuse textures the model names.

Clothing Textured as in Game

A clothing item takes its diffuse texture from its own .ytd, the way the game does.

Texture Dictionaries on Their Own

A .ytd uploaded alone opens as a sheet of every texture, with its name, size and format.

Most Detailed Level

Each model is drawn with its most detailed mesh.

Upright and in Metres

The game’s Z-up axis is turned so the model stands up, at its real size.

One Layer per Drawable

Each drawable in a .ydd dictionary sits on its own layer, so you can hide the ones in the way.

Convert to GLB, OBJ or FBX

Save the model as GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, PLY, USDZ, DAE or DXF, or the view as PDF, PNG or JPG.

Export to GTA V

Save any model the viewer opens as a .ydr prop with its textures in a .ytd (beta).

Nothing Is Uploaded

The file is read and drawn entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no copy of your model on a server.

Share and Embed

Send a link that opens the model in any browser, or drop the viewer into your own page with one iframe.

Compatibility & Format Notes

What is read: GTA V resources as the PC release stores them: drawables (.ydr) and drawable dictionaries (.ydd) of version 165, fragments (.yft, version 162, drawn as the intact object) and texture dictionaries (.ytd, version 13). Each model is drawn at its most detailed level of detail, every drawable of a dictionary on its own layer, upright and in metres.

Textures: DXT1, DXT3, DXT5, BC4 and BC5 compressed textures and uncompressed RGBA, luminance and alpha textures. A texture larger than 2048 pixels is drawn from a smaller level of its mipmap chain. To texture a model from a .ytd, upload both in one .zip.

Not drawn: BC7 textures (those materials show in plain grey), normal and specular maps, skinning and poses (clothing shows as it was modelled), lower levels of detail, damaged vehicle parts and collision. Resources from GTA V Enhanced and from other RAGE games are not read, and a file still encrypted inside an .rpf archive needs exporting with OpenIV or CodeWalker first.

Export to GTA V

Any model the viewer opens (GLB, OBJ, FBX, SketchUp, Blender and the other formats) can be saved as a GTA V prop: choose Export, then GTA V prop (.ydr, beta). The download is a .zip holding the .ydr drawable, its .ytd texture dictionary and a readme with the steps for FiveM, CodeWalker and OpenIV.

The prop is one drawable at one level of detail, Z up in metres, drawn with the game’s default shader (its normal shader where a material has a normal map, and the alpha or cutout variant for see-through and masked materials). Textures are DXT1 or DXT5 with mipmaps, up to 2048 pixels, plain colours are baked into a small palette texture, and large meshes are split into geometries the game can index.

The export is a beta and makes static props: no skeleton, no lower levels of detail and no collision. Add collision (.ybn) and an archetype (.ytyp) in CodeWalker when the prop needs them; the readme shows how. Converter pages: GLB to YDR, OBJ to YDR, FBX to YDR, SKP to YDR and BLEND to YDR.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶Do I need the game or OpenIV to open a .ydr or .ydd file?

No. The file is read in your browser, so it opens on a computer or a phone with neither installed.

▶Why is my model grey?

Its textures are in a .ytd that was not uploaded with it. Put the model and its .ytd in one .zip and open the .zip. A material whose texture is BC7 compressed also shows in grey, as BC7 is not decoded.

▶Can I convert a YDR, YDD or YFT to OBJ or FBX?

Yes. Open the file and click Export. The model saves as GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, PLY, USDZ, DAE or DXF, with its diffuse textures in the formats that carry them.

▶Why does the clothing not sit on a body?

Only the file you upload is drawn. A clothing item shows on its own, in the position it was modelled for, with no character model and no pose.

▶Can I turn a 3D model into a GTA V prop?

Yes, as a beta. Open the model and choose Export, then GTA V prop (.ydr, beta). You get the .ydr, its .ytd and a readme. Collision and an archetype are added separately in CodeWalker.

▶Is this GTA V model viewer really free?

Yes, completely free. No signup, no watermarks, no file size limits on the viewer (the optional share-link feature has a 100 MB upload cap). Built by Innerscene as a tool for architects, engineers, and designers.

▶Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All parsing, rendering, and conversion runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted by default. The Share button is the only feature that uploads a file, and only when you explicitly click it.

▶Can I convert to another format?

Yes. Click Export in the toolbar to save as STL (3D printing), OBJ (Wavefront), GLB (glTF binary), or PDF (snapshot of the current view).

▶Can I embed this viewer on my own site?

Yes. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate a one-line <iframe> snippet you can paste into any HTML page. You can choose whether the embed shows the viewer’s toolbar.
