How to convert Fusion to STEP

What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from Fusion into STEP, and what does not.

What the STEP writer emits: ISO 10303-21 AP214, each mesh written as a faceted B-rep: one planar face per triangle inside a closed shell, in millimeters under an explicit SI unit. Exact for polyhedral shapes, a faithful tessellation for curved ones.

The display mesh Fusion saves inside a design: every body as Fusion tessellated it, each component occurrence placed where the assembly has it, hidden occurrences kept on a layer that starts switched off, in centimetres. Designs saved without that mesh, which includes older Fusion releases, open to a notice with the design’s own thumbnail.
