How to convert Fusion to OBJ

What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from Fusion into OBJ, and what does not.

What the OBJ writer emits: OBJ plus a companion MTL, zipped together. Each layer becomes an object block and each mesh a named group with its material color. Lines are written as OBJ line elements and point clouds as point elements.

The display mesh Fusion saves inside a design: every body as Fusion tessellated it, each component occurrence placed where the assembly has it, hidden occurrences kept on a layer that starts switched off, in centimetres. Designs saved without that mesh, which includes older Fusion releases, open to a notice with the design’s own thumbnail.
