How to convert eDrawings to EPS

  1. 1

    Open your .eprt file

Drag it onto the viewer above, or click "Open an eDrawings File". Files up to 200 MB open directly; the parse runs in a worker so the page stays responsive.

  2. 2

Pick Encapsulated PostScript in the Export menu

Click Export in the toolbar, then EPS (.eps).

  3. 3

    Download

The .eps is written in the browser and saved straight to your downloads folder. No queue, no email, no watermark.

What survives the conversion

A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from eDrawings into EPS, and what does not.

GeometryReducedThe 3-D model is projected to the current view and written as 2-D paths, with hidden lines removed. It becomes a drawing, not a model.
Colors and materialsReducedeDrawings can hold material colors and EPS holds one color per object, so materials are flattened to that.
TexturesDroppedEPS does not carry texture images, so a textured model arrives in flat material colors.
Layers and structureDroppedEPS is a single flat body with no layers or named parts. Everything merges into one object. If you need the structure, export to GLB, OBJ, DXF instead.
Units and scaleDroppedEPS stores no unit. Coordinates are written in meters, so set the import unit to meters if the destination asks.

What the EPS writer emits: The same hidden-line visibility pass as the vector PDF and SVG writers, written as PostScript fill and stroke operators on a page sized to the view.

The source: SolidWorks eDrawings (EPRT / EASM) (.eprt, .easm, .edrw, .hsf)

The display mesh SolidWorks publishes into eDrawings parts and assemblies, with every body placed and colored as saved, in meters, stood upright from the author’s saved view. Textured appearances such as wood carry their picture where the faces have texture coordinates. A bare HOOPS stream (.hsf) opens the same way.

Vector artwork of the current view for page layout and print workflows that still ask for PostScript.

Opens in: Illustrator, Inkscape, print and prepress workflows.

Your file never leaves your computer

Both the eDrawings parser and the EPS writer are JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your own browser tab. There is no upload step, no server-side conversion queue, and no copy of your file anywhere but your machine. That matters for drawings under NDA, for client work, and for anything you would not email to a stranger.
