How to convert eDrawings to PLY

Open your .eprt file
Drag it onto the viewer above, or click "Open an eDrawings File". Files up to 200 MB open directly; the parse runs in a worker so the page stays responsive.

What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from eDrawings into PLY, and what does not.

What the PLY writer emits: Binary little-endian PLY with x/y/z and per-vertex RGB, faces for meshes, edges for linework, vertices only for clouds.

The display mesh SolidWorks publishes into eDrawings parts and assemblies, with every body placed and colored as saved, in meters, stood upright from the author’s saved view. Textured appearances such as wood carry their picture where the faces have texture coordinates. A bare HOOPS stream (.hsf) opens the same way.
