Free Online Blitz3D Model Viewer (No Signup)

A .b3d file is a model in the native format of Blitz3D, the game engine behind SCP - Containment Breach and many indie games: a tree of nodes with meshes, brushes (materials), textures, bones and animation keys. This viewer opens it in your browser, rigged and animated, with no game engine installed. View and convert Blitz3D .b3d models in your browser.

Also opens DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, IFC, SKP, STL, OBJ, GLB, FBX, 3DM and other 3D/CAD files. Drop any file on the viewer.

Works directly in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge

Also from Innerscene: Circadian Lab, a free lighting calculator for room illuminance, melanopic EML, and glare.

Private by default. Files are parsed locally in your browser. Uploading is only required if you choose to share a link.

What Is a Blitz3D Model File?

Blitz3D loads its models from .b3d files: one “BB3D” chunk holding the textures the model names by file, the brushes that colour and texture its surfaces, and a tree of nodes. A node carries a position, a rotation and a scale, and holds a mesh (vertices with normals, colours and UVs, and triangles grouped by brush), a bone that weights the vertices of the mesh above it, or animation keys. Games such as SCP - Containment Breach ship their characters, props and rooms this way, and B3D exporters for Blender, 3ds Max, Milkshape, Ultimate Unwrap 3D and fragMOTION write it.

The viewer reads the file in your browser. Every mesh is placed through its node tree, in its brush colours, turned from Blitz3D’s left-handed axes so it is not mirrored. A rigged model is bound to its skeleton in the rest pose its bones store, and its animation keys play in the Animation panel, one clip per named sequence when the file names them (as SCP - Containment Breach models do).

Textures are image files kept beside the model. Upload the .b3d with its images in one .zip, or add the images when the viewer lists the ones it is missing. The model exports to GLB, OBJ, FBX and the other formats in the Export menu.

Who Uses Blitz3D Model Files?

Modders and fans of Blitz3D games such as SCP - Containment Breach looking at a character or a room, indie developers who still build with Blitz3D or the Blitz3D SDK, and 3D artists who want an old .b3d model in Blender or a modern engine.

Common Use Cases

  • Look at a character, prop or room model from a Blitz3D game
  • Play the animation sequences a .b3d carries
  • Check which textures a model names before packing a mod
  • Convert a .b3d to GLB, OBJ or FBX for Blender, Unity or Godot
  • Share a link to a model with a teammate

Features

Opens Blitz3D .b3d

Models from Blitz3D games such as SCP - Containment Breach and from the B3D exporters, also inside a .zip.

Rigged and Animated

Bones bind the mesh in its rest pose, and the animation keys play in the Animation panel.

Named Sequences

Each sequence the file names (idle, walk, attack) is its own clip.

Textures From Its Folder

Images uploaded with the model in one .zip, or added afterwards, texture its brushes. PNG, JPEG, BMP, TGA and DDS.

Brush Materials

Brush colour, alpha, fullbright, vertex colours and two-sided faces as Blitz3D draws them.

The Right Way Round

Blitz3D’s left-handed axes are turned into the viewer’s, so the model is not mirrored.

Convert to GLB, OBJ or FBX

Save the model as GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, PLY, USDZ, DAE or DXF, or the view as PDF, PNG or JPG.

Measure the Model

Use Tools to measure it, one Blitz3D unit shown as one metre.

Nothing Is Uploaded

The file is read and drawn entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no copy of your model on a server.

Share and Embed

Send a link that opens the model in any browser, or drop the viewer into your own page with one iframe.

Compatibility & Format Notes

What is read: the BB3D chunk tree as Blitz3D and the B3D exporters write it: textures (TEXS), brushes (BRUS), nodes (NODE) with their position, scale and rotation, meshes (MESH, VRTS, TRIS) with normals, vertex colours and up to eight UV sets, bones (BONE), animation keys (KEYS, ANIM) and the named sequences (SEQS) that Ultimate Unwrap 3D and fragMOTION add.

Materials and textures: each brush draws in its colour and alpha, fullbright, vertex-coloured or two-sided as its effects say, with its first texture as the colour map, scaled, masked or blended as the texture flags say. PNG, JPEG, BMP, TGA and DDS images open. A texture that did not come with the model leaves the brush colour.

Not drawn: the second and later texture layers of a brush (lightmaps and detail maps), sphere and cube environment maps, and flat shading. Blitz3D has no unit of length, so one unit is shown as one metre. Bazis furniture files also use .b3d; those open as Bazis models.

Share as a single HTML file

Export the model as one .html file that opens in any web browser, offline, with orbit, pan and zoom. The person you send it to needs no 3D software, no install and no account.

Your Files Stay on Your Computer

Your Blitz3D Model files are parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared unless you explicitly click the Share button. Shared files are hosted for 90 days then deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶Do I need Blitz3D to open a .b3d file?

No. The file is read in your browser, so it opens on a computer or a phone with no engine or modelling tool installed.

▶Why is my model grey or white?

Its textures are separate image files that were not uploaded with it. Put the .b3d and its images in one .zip and open the .zip, or add the images when the viewer lists the missing ones.

▶Do the animations play?

Yes. A model with bones and animation keys opens in its rest pose with an Animation panel. Each named sequence in the file is its own clip; a file without names plays as one clip over all its frames.

▶Can I convert a B3D to OBJ or FBX?

Yes. Open the file and click Export. The model saves as GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, 3MF, PLY, USDZ, DAE or DXF, in the pose shown on screen.

▶Is this Blitz3D model viewer really free?

Yes, completely free. No signup, no watermarks, no file size limits on the viewer (the optional share-link feature has a 100 MB upload cap). Built by Innerscene as a tool for architects, engineers, and designers.

▶Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All parsing, rendering, and conversion runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted by default. The Share button is the only feature that uploads a file, and only when you explicitly click it.

▶Can I convert to another format?

Yes. Click Export in the toolbar to save as STL (3D printing), OBJ (Wavefront), GLB (glTF binary), or PDF (snapshot of the current view).

▶Can I embed this viewer on my own site?

Yes. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate a one-line <iframe> snippet you can paste into any HTML page. You can choose whether the embed shows the viewer’s toolbar.
