How to convert RVT to AMF

What survives the conversion
A file conversion is a translation, and formats do not carry the same things. Here is exactly what moves from RVT into AMF, and what does not.

What the AMF writer emits: AMF 1.1 XML in millimeters, Z-up, with one <object> per mesh and a <material> per distinct color referenced from its <volume>.
The source: Autodesk Revit (.rvt, .rfa, .rft)
Revit 2011 and later, rebuilt from the element database: walls with their joins and openings cut, floors, roofs, ceilings, stairs, railings, columns, framing and placed families, in per-category layers. Loadable families (.rfa) open as the component itself.
The target: Additive Manufacturing File Format (.amf)
The XML print format 3MF was built to replace, still read by some slicers and print services.
