What Is an APLI Label LAA File?

APLI makes self-adhesive labels on A4 sheets, and offers a free Windows program, APLI Label (later APLI Label SE and Apli Master), to lay out and print them. The same program is sold under other names, such as Decadry Label SE and Hama DISign. It saves each design as a .laa file.

A design names the label stock it is made for (such as “Ref. 01278 - 105.00 x 57.00 mm”), the size and corner radius of one label and how the labels sit on the sheet, then the objects on the label: text frames, barcodes, pictures and shapes, each with its position and size in millimetres. Text keeps its fonts, sizes and colours as rich text.

This viewer reads the file with its own reader, in your browser, and draws one label at its real size: the outline, the text, the barcodes as bars and the pictures. It exports as PDF, PNG or SVG.

Who Uses APLI Label LAA Files?

Shops, small producers and offices that print product, shipping and address labels on APLI sheets, print shops that receive a customer’s .laa file, and anyone who has a label design but not the program that made it.

Common Use Cases

  • See what a .laa label design holds without installing APLI Label
  • Check the text, barcode data and label size before printing a batch
  • Read the batch number, expiry date or GTIN on a product label
  • Save a PDF or PNG of a label to send to a printer or a customer
  • Open label designs on a Mac, a Chromebook or a phone

Features

Opens .laa Files

Label designs from APLI Label, APLI Label SE, Apli Master, Decadry Label SE and Hama DISign, recognised by their content, also inside a .zip.

True Size in Millimetres

The label is drawn at the size and corner radius the file stores, so measurements in the viewer are the real ones.

Formatted Text

Each text frame with its font, size, colour, bold, italic and alignment, wrapped at the frame width.

Barcodes as Bars

GS1-128 and Code 128 barcodes are drawn from their data, with the human-readable line under the bars.

Sheet Note

The label stock and how many labels the sheet holds are noted under the label.

Export to PDF, PNG or SVG

Save the label from the Export menu to send to a printer, a customer or a colleague.

Nothing Is Uploaded

The design is read and drawn entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no copy of your label on a server.

Share and Embed

Send a link that opens the label in any browser, or put the viewer in your own page with one iframe.

Compatibility & Format Notes

The viewer reads .laa designs that start with the program’s HAMA_ signature, whichever program name saved them. It draws the label outline with its corner radius and colour, text frames with their font, size, colour, bold, italic and alignment, GS1-128 and Code 128 barcodes as bars with their human-readable line, and pictures stored in the design.

When the sheet repeats the label, one label is drawn and a note under it gives the label stock and how many labels the sheet holds. Barcodes in other symbologies are drawn as a box with their data.

Serial numbers, database merge fields and print settings are not applied: the design is shown as saved. Nothing is sent to a server.

Your Files Stay on Your Computer

Your APLI Label LAA files are parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared unless you explicitly click the Share button. Shared files are hosted for 90 days then deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶How do I open a .laa file?

Drop it on this page. The viewer draws the label in your browser, on Windows, a Mac, a Chromebook, Linux or a phone alike. From the Export menu you can save it as PDF, PNG or SVG.

▶Which program made my .laa file?

APLI Label, the free label program from APLI, or the same program under another name such as APLI Label SE, Apli Master, Decadry Label SE or Hama DISign. The label reference in the file, such as “Ref. 01278”, is the APLI label sheet it was made for.

▶Can I scan the barcode on screen?

The viewer draws GS1-128 and Code 128 barcodes from the data in the file, so a scanner reads the same data. The width of the bars follows the barcode’s frame, so print from APLI Label when the exact bar width matters.

▶Why is only one label shown?

A sheet repeats the same design on every label, so the viewer draws one label at its real size and notes under it how many labels the sheet holds.

▶Is this APLI Label LAA viewer really free?

Yes, completely free. No signup, no watermarks, no file size limits on the viewer (the optional share-link feature has a 100 MB upload cap). Built by Innerscene as a tool for architects, engineers, and designers.

▶Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All parsing, rendering, and conversion runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted by default. The Share button is the only feature that uploads a file, and only when you explicitly click it.

▶Can I convert to another format?

Yes. Click Export in the toolbar to save the label as a PDF, a PNG or an SVG. The viewer does not write .laa files.

▶Can I embed this viewer on my own site?

Yes. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate a one-line <iframe> snippet you can paste into any HTML page. You can choose whether the embed shows the viewer’s toolbar.
