Free Online 3MF Viewer (No Signup)

3MF (3D Manufacturing Format) is the modern, color-aware replacement for STL — backed by Microsoft, HP, Bambu, Prusa, and the wider 3D printing industry. View and convert 3MF print files in your browser.

Works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge — no plugin required

Private by default — files are parsed locally in your browser. Uploading is only required if you choose to share a link.

What Is a 3MF File?

The 3D Manufacturing Format is a ZIP container holding XML descriptions of geometry, colors, materials, and print metadata. It was created by the 3MF Consortium (Microsoft, HP, Autodesk, Dassault, Siemens, Stratasys, and others) to replace STL for modern 3D printing workflows.

Compared to STL, 3MF carries color and material data, multiple parts in one file, watertight-by-construction geometry, and print-specific metadata like build orientation and slicer settings. Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, and Cura all export 3MF as their preferred format.

Who Uses 3MF Files?

Owners of modern multi-material 3D printers (Bambu Labs, Prusa XL, MMU2), users of Bambu Studio / PrusaSlicer / OrcaSlicer, and the broader 3D printing community that has been migrating away from STL.

Common Use Cases

  • Preview a 3MF before slicing or shared-printing
  • Verify a multi-color or multi-part print downloaded from MakerWorld / Printables
  • Inspect a 3MF exported from Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Onshape
  • Convert 3MF to STL for legacy slicers
  • Convert 3MF to GLB for web preview

Features

Open Instantly

Drag and drop a .3mf file — the ZIP container is unpacked and the model manifest parsed in your browser.

Multi-Object

Renders every object in a multi-part 3MF as its own mesh — useful for multi-color and multi-material prints.

Per-Object Color

Base color data on each object loads automatically — see your print in color before slicing.

3D Navigation

Orbit, pan, and zoom with mouse or touch to verify the print from every angle.

Convert to STL

Export 3MF as STL for legacy slicers or printers that don’t accept 3MF.

Convert to GLB

Export to GLB for sharing your print model on the web with full color.

Convert to OBJ

Save as Wavefront OBJ for use in mesh-editing tools like Blender or MeshLab.

Export as PDF

Generate a snapshot PDF for a print request, parts catalog, or build documentation.

No Upload Required

Your 3MF is unzipped and parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

Embed on Any Site

Add the 3MF viewer to your website with a single iframe embed code.

Compatibility & Format Notes

Geometry and per-object base color data load from the model manifest. Multi-object 3MF files render with each part as its own mesh. Slicer-specific extensions (Bambu, Prusa toolpath data) are ignored — only the geometry layer of the 3MF standard is rendered.

Embed on Your Website

Add this viewer to your own site with a single line of HTML. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate an embed code, or use the snippet below with your own file URL.

<iframe src="https://www.innerscene.com/tools/3mf-viewer?embedded=1&url=YOUR_3MF_URL" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Your Files Stay on Your Computer

Your 3MF files are parsed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared unless you explicitly click the Share button. Shared files are hosted for 90 days then deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use 3MF instead of STL?

3MF carries color, material, multi-part, and print-metadata information that STL discards. It’s also smaller for comparable geometry and is watertight by construction (impossible to have inverted normals or non-manifold edges). Modern slicers prefer 3MF.

Does the viewer show multi-color prints correctly?

Base per-object colors render. Per-face / per-vertex color painting (the kind Bambu Studio writes) is partially supported — complex paint layers may fall back to a single object color.

Can I convert 3MF to STL?

Yes — click Export → STL. Useful if your slicer doesn’t accept 3MF or if you want a simpler single-color hand-off.

Is this 3MF viewer really free?

Yes, completely free. No signup, no watermarks, no file size limits on the viewer (the optional share-link feature has a 30 MB upload cap). Built by Innerscene as a tool for architects, engineers, and designers.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. All parsing, rendering, and conversion runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted by default. The Share button is the only feature that uploads a file, and only when you explicitly click it.

Can I convert to another format?

Yes. Click Export in the toolbar to save as STL (3D printing), OBJ (Wavefront), GLB (glTF binary), or PDF (snapshot of the current view).

Can I embed this viewer on my own site?

Yes. Click Embed in the toolbar to generate a one-line <iframe> snippet you can paste into any HTML page. You can choose whether the embed shows the viewer’s toolbar.
