# Sample model credits

Files in this directory are loaded by the universal 3D viewer's **Samples**
menu so people can try each format without uploading anything of their own.
The sections below credit the files whose licences ask for attribution. The
MIT-licensed ones also carry their copyright and permission notices in
[THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt). Every file's source and
licence is listed in [SOURCES.md](SOURCES.md).

## Adafruit CAD Parts (STEP)

`feather-esp8266.step`, `adafruit-motor-hat.step` and `neopixel-ring.step` are
Adafruit's own board models from
[Adafruit_CAD_Parts](https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CAD_Parts), MIT
License, Copyright (c) 2016 Adafruit Industries. Redistributed unmodified.

## NVIDIA JetRacer (IGES)

`jetracer-cam-mount.iges` is the JetRacer camera mount from
[NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetracer](https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetracer)
(`assets/jetracer_cam_mount.iges`), MIT License, Copyright (c) 2019 NVIDIA
Corporation. Redistributed unmodified.

## B.O.R.A.T. robot arm (IGES)

`slewing-ring.iges` is a machined slewing-ring part from
[B.O.R.A.T. Industrial Robot Arm Project](https://github.com/filoucool/B.O.R.A.T-Industrial_Robot_Arm_Project)
(`CNC machined parts/Production Files/J3RA2.iges`), MIT License, Copyright (c)
2023 Félix Chenette-Stewart. Redistributed unmodified.

## CoderAllan SketchUp models (OBJ)

`diningroom-table.obj` is the geometry of `Diningroom table and chairs.skp`
from [CoderAllan/SketchUpModels](https://github.com/CoderAllan/SketchUpModels),
MIT License, Copyright (c) 2016 Allan Simonsen, converted to OBJ. The Samples
menu also opens two of the same author's .skp files straight from that
repository.

## Godot demo projects (Blender scenes)

| File | Source |
| --- | --- |
| `godot-ball.blend` | `3d/material_testers/models/godot_ball.blend` |
| `godot-living-room.blend` | `3d/physical_light_camera_units/living_room.blend` |

The [Godot demo projects](https://github.com/godotengine/godot-demo-projects)
are published by the Godot Engine contributors under the MIT licence. These
two are redistributed unmodified, as native `.blend` files, and are both in
the Samples menu.

## UND Advanced Rocketry Club (SolidWorks files)

`servo-mount.sldprt`, `muon-detector-case.sldprt` and `rocket-fin-set.slddrw`
are from the University of North Dakota Advanced Rocketry Club's NASA Student
Launch / IREC competition rocket, from
[UND-ARC/RocketModels-2023](https://github.com/UND-ARC/RocketModels-2023)
(`ServoMount.SLDPRT`, `Muon_Case_2.SLDPRT`, `Fins.SLDDRW`), MIT License,
Copyright (c) 2022 University of North Dakota Advanced Rocketry Club.
Redistributed unmodified. The two parts render from their embedded display
meshes; the fin set drawing shows a dimensioned sheet with title block from its
saved sheet image.

## Ryzom (3ds Max scenes)

The Samples menu opens four Ryzom scenes (a tavern, an armoured character, a
Kitin creature and a watchtower prop) from the
[Ryzom-Max](https://github.com/BillDStrong/Ryzom-Max) mirror of the Ryzom asset
base rather than from this directory.

Two copies are kept here for the viewer's own tests and its blog post:

| File | Source |
| --- | --- |
| `ryzom-guard-tower-textured.zip` | The watchtower plus its two texture images |
| `ryzom-guard-tower.max` | Ryzom asset base, Karavan watchtower accessory |
| `ryzom-armored-character.max` | Ryzom asset base, Matis female armour |

Note: a `.max` names its textures by absolute path on the machine that
authored them and carries no image data, so a lone `.max` renders untextured.
The zip bundles the scene with its two PNGs, which the viewer resolves by
filename.

Ryzom is a MMORPG whose complete art asset base was open-sourced by Winch Gate
Property Ltd. The models are dual-licensed under
[CC BY-SA 3.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) and the
[Free Art License 1.3](https://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/), and are
redistributed here unmodified. Project home: <https://ryzom.com>

## Arduino Uno Rev3 (Gerber test fixture)

`arduino-uno.zip` is the Arduino Uno Rev3 reference-design fabrication package:
Gerber (RS-274X) and Excellon drill files exported from CadSoft Eagle, published
by [Arduino](http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/FAQ) under the Creative Commons
Attribution Share-Alike licence. Redistributed unmodified, with the original
LICENSE file and a README naming each layer, obtained via the MIT-licensed
[tracespace fixtures](https://github.com/tracespace/tracespace/tree/v5/packages/fixtures/boards/arduino-uno).
It is a regression fixture for the Gerber reader (a real 2011 Eagle export:
inch units, zero-diameter apertures, an octagonal-pad aperture macro, and not
one file extension a viewer would recognise by name); it is not in the Samples
menu.

`gerber-filenames.json` from the same fixture set (MIT) is used as a test corpus
for layer-name identification; it is not shipped to the browser.

## Natural Earth (shapefile)

`world-countries.zip` bundles the 1:110m "Admin 0 – Countries" shapefile set
(.shp + .shx + .dbf + .prj) from [Natural Earth](https://www.naturalearthdata.com/),
which is in the public domain. Redistributed unmodified, zipped as a set, to
demonstrate the viewer opening a complete shapefile with its coordinate system
and attribute table.

## Word documents

| File | Source |
| --- | --- |
| `word-002-headings-list.docx` | Styles, multilevel numbering, two-page pagination |
| `word-003-small-table.docx` | 3×3 table with a header row and a merged cell |
| `word-007-inline-image.docx` | Inline picture with text before and after it |
| `word-011-advanced-tables.docx` | Vertical merges, cell shading, per-cell border overrides |
| `word-013-footnotes.docx` | Footnote references and the note at the foot of the page |
| `word-long-handbook.docx` | A 22-page handbook, for multi-page scrolling and virtualization |
| `word-neighbour.doc` | A stub Word 97–2003 file, so the "save it as .docx" notice can be tested |
| `word-neighbour.xlsx` | A stub Excel package, so the "this is a spreadsheet" notice can be tested |
| `word-times-3page.docx` | Times New Roman across three pages, pinning the line-height rule |
| `word-jury-instructions.docx` | A four-page Times New Roman court document |
| `word-georgia-timeline.docx` | Georgia, pinning the corrected vertical metrics for its substitute |

Written for this viewer's test rig, which compared each one against Microsoft
Word's own pagination page by page. No third-party content; free to
redistribute.

Two samples carry historical texts that are in the public domain, typeset
in-repo by `lib/universal-3d-viewer/test/tools/make-word-pd-samples.mjs`:

| File | Text |
| --- | --- |
| `word-gettysburg-address.docx` | Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address (Bliss copy, 1863) |
| `word-bill-of-rights.docx` | The U.S. Bill of Rights, a United States government work |

The texts predate copyright or are U.S. government works; the .docx packages
themselves were authored for this viewer. Free to redistribute.
